Summer in Orange County – Shopping!

Summer in Orange County – Shopping!

So you’ve had your fill of fried foods at the OC Fair, picked up some culture at Pageant of the Masters, and released your inner child at Disneyland Resort. Now what? Shopping in Orange County – that’s what! Orange County boasts shopping like you will rarely see outside of bustling places like New York, London, or Beverly Hills. From high end labels to swap meet stuffs and everything in between, your shopping heaven awaits in Orange County. So leave the kids behind or send them off for round two at Disneyland and try one of these amazing Orange County shopping destinations.

South Coast Plaza

If you’re looking for the highest concentration of design fashion retail in the ENTIRE United States, what can we say? South Coast Plaza is exactly what you’re searching for and is Orange County shopping at its finest! Boasting 250 glamorous boutiques and 30 mouthwatering restaurants, South Coast Plaza, located in Costa Mesa, truly is your Orange County shopping dream! Names like Hermes, Chanel, Gucci, Versace, and Tiffany & Co. are at every turn. If your pocketbook can’t take that kind of hit, we promise there is much more to do than simply drool at the couture through the windows. Mall mainstays like Victoria’s Secret, Abercrombie & Fitch, Macy’s and Nordstrom’s also dot this Orange County shopping landscape. There is literally a week’s worth of shopping and window shopping to be had at fabulous South Coast Plaza.

Fashion Island

Take your Orange County shopping experience just a few miles down the road to Newport Beach and the designer fashion blitz continues. Another 200 specialty stores and shops call this beachside shopping haven home as well as another 30 restaurants. Unlike South Coast Plaza, this Orange County shopping destination was built as an open air “mall” so visitors have a chance to soak up that famous Cali sun while perusing their favorite brands, such as BCBG Max Azria, Juicy Couture, and Lucky Brand Jeans. Fashion Island is also home to Newport Beach’s only 21 and over luxury movie theatre, Island Cinemas. You can take a break from your shopping extravaganza, indulge in an adult cocktail or a specialty menu item, and bask in the ambience of the vaulted ceilings, oversized leather chairs, and ample leg room while catching up on the latest cinema craze.

Irvine Spectrum Center

Now here is an Orange County shopping destination that features the one thing you were desperately hoping to come face to face with during your SoCal trip! A Ferris wheel! No? Ok well even if you aren’t into carnival rides in the middle of your shopping plaza, you will marvel at the expansive shopper’s heaven that is the Irvine Spectrum Center. Built in 1995 and expanded frequently thereafter, this 130 retail and food shop behemoth has become a centerpiece of the Orange County lifestyle in recent years. Not a day goes by when you won’t see locals ambling up and down the walkways of this place. The chance to mix your Orange County shopping with Orange County culture has never been closer! (They could even be one in the same but we will leave that up to you to decide!)

This in no way, shape, or form covers all of the major Orange County shopping experiences that await you! For a listing of all major shopping areas in Orange County, check out this site. Happy shopping!

The last big thing that I bought was my parents’ 25th anniversary wedding bands. I overdid myself a bit and went way beyond my budget, but the look on their faces was worth every penny.
