A question for this Monday morning: What is bright and shiny, sometimes doubles as a champagne flute, and has a long history of people not wanting to touch it? If you guessed the Stanley Cup, then give yourself a pat on the back to start this week before the Labor Day holiday. If you would prefer, you can actually pat the Stanley Cup instead as it will be on display in Ontario this Sunday (September 2nd) from 1:00-3:00 pm at Ayres Hotel & Suites Ontario Convention Center! There will be photos, there will be squeals of delight (maybe from the ladies too! J) and there will be plenty of Stanley Cup adulation – all for free of course.
The Stanley Cup will visit Ontario as a shimmering guest of the Ontario Reign, proud affiliates of the Stanley Cup winning Los Angeles Kings. In case you have been living deep within the confines of some news-less place or simply have not had the time to catch up on your hockey trivia (ha!) the Los Angeles Kings have been waiting for this moment since 1966 when the team was first formed. This is their first ever Stanley Cup win and Southern California hockey fans are head over ice for this championship team.
Ayres Hotel & Suites Ontario Convention Center is also head over ice for their local favorites – the Ontario Reign. To have the chance to partner with the Reign, 2011-2012 Pacific Division Champions, for the 2012-2013 season is such an honor but to top it off with the opportunity to host the Stanley Cup for even a moment!? You had us at face off!
Seriously though, what more could you ask for this holiday weekend than to have a chance to actually see the Stanley Cup up close in Ontario. Get in line early as this is a very rare, limited opportunity. Don’t miss it!
