This Sunday, September 29th, at Orange Coast College located near the Ayres Hotel & Suites Costa Mesa/Newport Beach, the Orange County Children’s Book Festival will be taking place from 9:30AM-4:30PM. Children of all ages are welcome, and encouraged, to come and experience the 10th anniversary of the largest children’s book festival in the United States. Last year alone, the festival drew in over 35,000 people. Each year the Orange County Children’s Book Festival features popular authors, illustrators, storytellers, and entertainers that support children’s literacy and education.
This is the perfect opportunity for families to meet with some of the world’s top children’s book authors and illustrators. One well known author that will be featured at the festival is Rosemary Wells, author of Max and Ruby. At the main stage you and your family will be able to meet the authors and listen as they read from their books on stage. Most authors will be signing their books to create a truly cherished purchase. For young adults, the Young Adult Stage will capture the interest of the older pre-teen and teen crowd. Another enjoyable stage will be the Animal Stage, in which many of the books that feature animals will have real life animal counterparts to exhibit and amuse!
One special and engaging stage is the Illustrator Stage which includes demonstrations of what it takes the illustrate some of the most captivating children’s book characters. There will even be the opportunity to watch the illustrators in action drawing Disney, Sesame Street and Simpson characters up close.
Besides author attractions there will be a plethora of family fun awaiting at the Orange County Children’s Book Festival. A huge favorite at the OC Children’s Book Festival is the FREE petting animal area right next to the Animal Stage and exhibit. Other activities include a children’s craft corner, face painting, train rides, and crazy hair styling. The Festival will have over 90 literary related retailers and publishers present, allowing for exclusive purchases of signed books by the authors and their illustrators.
