2012 Junior Olympics
While the Olympic trials for many summer Olympic sports take place in the run up to the 2012 Summer Olympic Games in London, fans of swimming will be pleased to know that the 2012 Southern California Swimming Summer Junior Olympics are being held a bit closer to home in good ol’ Riverside, CA. The Riverside Aquatics Association will host the 2012 Swimming Junior Olympics from July 25-29 at the new, state of the art Riverside Aquatics Complex that was recently opened at Riverside Community College. The 2012 Junior Olympics will give some of the best swimming talent from Southern California and Nevada a unique opportunity to showcase their athletic talent in a variety of competitions.
As many as 1000 top swimmers from as young as 5 years old will compete in everything from 1500 meter freestyle to 50 meter sprints in what is said to be the first event of this stature to be held in the Riverside area. The city of Riverside is proud to host this event looks forward to welcoming swim fans and the swimming community. Many Riverside Aquatics team members kicked their training into overdrive ever since the bid for the 2012 Swimming Junior Olympics was won in the hopes of making an impression on the many visitors to the city as well as bringing home a few medals.
