Veterans Day Appreciation
Veteran

“As we express our gratitude we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words but to live by them”. –John F Kennedy

Veterans Day may just be a day off from work to some people, but to others it is a time to bestow gratitude to all those who have served our country. Veterans Day is the day set aside to thank and honor ALL those who served honorably in the military, regardless if the service was during wartime or peacetime. The holiday is mainly intended to thank all living veterans for their service, to acknowledge appreciation for their contributions to our national security and to commend those who served, sacrificed, and done their duty – not only those who have died.

This Veterans Day, each individual Ayres Hotels asked everyone who “likes” them on Facebook and follows the hotel on Google+ to “shout out” their favorite Veteran or active military person by commenting or posting a picture of them on the Facebook/Google+ pages. Everyone who did so, entered a contest for a complimentary night stay at any Ayres Hotel of their choice. Those who posted pictures, received two entries into the contest. This was Ayres Hotel’s way of showing appreciation for our Veterans, active military persons, and the people who know and love them. Over the entire hotel collection’s social media platforms, there were about 30 “shout outs” and five pictures posted.

Deborah Miller from Long Beach, CA thanked her husband for his time in the navy and her entire male side of the family for serving our country.

Jeanette Magana posted a picture of her cousin Benjamin Rubalcava for his services and said, “He put aside his family to fight for us, thank you little Ben, I hope you have a wonderful day!” Ben

Virginia Samuel commented, “Thanks to all Vets! A special one to my boss Dr. Jobe, who served in WWII 101st airborne and my nephew pictured below who served for the Navy.”

And our winner, by luck of the draw, was Rosa Angelica who posted a picture of her cousin Danny Contreras and commented, “God Bless America and God bless my cousin Danny C.”
