Summer in Orange County – The OC Fair!

Orange County Summer – OC Fair

Summer appears to finally be here in Orange County! Gone are the grey skies and sprinkles of the spring and here is the bright sunshine and radiating heat that make summer in Orange County the absolute best time for travel to this sunny SoCal destination. Whether your summer vacation in Orange County is a family affair, a solo trip, or an adventure amongst friends, you can be assured of three things –  #1 The weather will be superb and #2 – You will NEVER run out of things to do during your summer in Orange County #3 – There is ALWAYS an Ayres Hotel right where you need to be when you’re doing those things! Every few days we will be giving you a run down of the best events and things to do this summer in Orange County. Let’s start it off with the OC Fair!

This is one of the absolute best places to make memories this summer in Orange County! Families AND friends can partake in the zaniness of the OC Fair. This annual event takes place at the OC Fairgrounds in Costa Mesa, CA. This year, the OC Fair runs every Wednesday through Sunday from July 13th – August 12th (hours vary so please check their website at www.ocfair.com). The OC Fair is a MAJOR draw for people from around the country every summer in Orange County and features everything from art shows to live entertainment to carnival rides.

This year, the OC Fair brings visitors some major names in musical entertainment at the Pacific Amphitheatre, which is located at the OC Fairgrounds. Get in line to hear the tunes of Willie Nelson, recent American Idol winner Scotty McCreery, Adam Lambert (loving the American Idol alumni at the OC Fair this year!), The Turtles, Three Dog Night, Sheryl Crow, Heart, Weird Al Yankovic, and so many more! Do your best to snag some tickets here: http://pacamp.com/pa/tickets/ and we’ve heard they are going FAST!

The major OC Fair attraction BY FAR, though, is the greasy, gooey, sticky, salty, and utterly mouthwatering food that is served there. The OC Fair’s got donut burgers (yes donut burgers!), all types of BBQ meats, corn, hot dogs, candied apples, turkey legs, oy! And let’s not forget all the fried goodies: fried Coca Cola, fried beer, fried ice cream, fried cookies, fried kool aid and, lest we forget, the mother of all fried foods – FRIED BUTTER! It may be a good idea to wear your loosest fitting pants if you feel the urge to indulge.

The OC Fair also features lots of that good ole Cali traffic, so make sure to give yourself plenty of time to get there. Or, to make things easy on yourself, stay at Ayres Hotel & Suites Costa Mesa, which is less than a mile from the OC Fair and next to many of the other Orange County summer places to be. Get your fill of fried foods and head over to shop at South Coast Plaza or to nearby Newport Beach (although you may not feel bikini ready after a day of munching at the OC Fair!).

However you choose to do it, if you are in Orange County this summer, don’t miss the OC FAIR!
